About us

A Brief History

SSVM was established in 1994, following the formation of its trust in 1984-85. The school's construction began in 1990, born from the visionary ideas of Shri Madanlal Agarwal. Initially, the institution commenced with just two classes, the 5th and 6th grades. The inaugural batch graduated in 1999, comprising 32 students. In its early years, the school fees were paid in rice, collected annually during the harvest season.

A significant portion of our student body hails from rural tribal regions in Jharkhand, such as the districts of Dhanbad, Jamtara, Deoghar, and Giridih among others. These students come from marginalised communities, including Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), and other backward classes. SSVM is a proud member of the Jharkhand Academic Council, aligning with the state's educational framework.

Starting from the year 2002, the school also served as a centre for the Sports Authority of India for kabaddi, fostering exceptional talent in these sports and enabling our students to compete at the state level. However, this program was later discontinued in 2013 due to a general withdrawal of the scheme.

The Origin Story

On one occasion, Shri Madanlal Agarwal (fondly known as Madan Babu) visited a village in Bundu, a tribal hamlet near Ranchi, to distribute blankets and food grains. During this visit, what the Adivasi (tribal) head of the village said to him, left a profound impact on him: “Babu, you are doing good work, but if you could also educate our children, they would be able to earn their living with dignity.” These words deeply moved Madan Babu, inspiring him to embark on a new mission.

While establishing SSVM, Madan Babu also founded the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, also known as Ekal Abhiyan, which has since established thousands of schools across India.

(Please note: SSVM is no longer affiliated with Ekal Abhiyan.)
